I might well be slightly late to the party here, but there are behind-the scenes photos floating about for the next installment in the Max franchise. Tom Hardy takes over as Max while George Miller returns to the helm as director.
The fact that the costumes aren't a million miles away from the originals shows just how progressive Miller's vision was for its time. It tapped into the punk aesthetic of the 80s but took it a step further with (for the time quire risqué) fetish trappings, tribal accoutrements and the intelligent reappropriation of sports armour. Though, script wise, it is arguably the weakest of the trilogy, the costume aesthetic reached new heights of accomplishment in Thunderdome.
For the latest installment the costume designers are now tapping into the trend for even more 'broken down' gear. The look is very much in the vein of Ashley Wood's 3A toys, and fashion labels like AllSaints and SkinGraft Designs.
